Just another day riding our bikes on the Eastern Trail. This section is about 8 miles in length and we enjoyed it more than the shorter trip between Kennebunk and Biddeford.
We parked in a lot behind Thornton Academy and headed North. The trail is nice, wide and mostly flat (my favorite). It crosses Rt. 1 via an overpass and several smaller roads via making sure there aren't any cars coming ;o) We were pleasantly surprised when cars actually stopped, allowing us to cross.
Our favorite section was the part through the Scarborough Marsh.
We rode for an hour before reaching the end at Black Point Road. From there we rode up a really steep hill to Rt. 1 and stopped for lunch.
On the return trip we took a short break and relaxed on one of the benches to enjoy the view (and a couple of Twizzlers for dessert).

While sitting here, we were trying to determine what the name of the road was that we could see in the distance.
"da train, da train" |
when out of nowhere...
It was a nice ride, beautiful day, temperature in the mid 70's. We highly recommend it as a good place to ride or walk your dog-friendly dog.
Thanks for stopping by...
;o)
