A Busy Last Day

Today was Wendy and Dan's last day before heading home.  Boo Hoo...

We met them at the Laishley Crab parking lot and walked over the bridge.  We saw several stingrays and porpoises.  Used the bathrooms at the park, then walked along the boardwalk to the other side and back to Hurricane Charley's, where they treated us to lunch.

Sunseekers Resort in progress
We were seated after a ten minute wait and all ordered sushi.  I got a $5 margarita.

We walked back to our vehicles and went our seperate ways.  They went back to their rental to float.  We stopped by Landmark, cashed a check at the bank and Bill dropped me at Beall's to look for shorts.  I bought a white pair because the blue ones were too big.

We got home around 2:00.  I put in a load of wash, took a nap on the couch and woke up with a headache.  WTH?!  Sat outside and read for awhile.

We picked them up at 6:00
and went to the Celtic Ray for dinner, sitting at the same table as last year on the upper deck.

I had the stew and they all had fish & chips.

We left around 7:20, took them back to their rental, picked up our chairs, their leftover food and tin cans (for Peace River Wildlife) and were home by 8:30.  It was still 75*, a lot warmer than their last day last year.

It's always fun to have them visit and I always miss them when they leave.

Celebrating a Special Someone

We picked them up around 9:30, went to the farmer's market and Mercer's, where we sat outside and ate the macaroons we bought at the market.  We went to the beef store and bought things for dinner later, then dropped them back at home.  They did their thing, we did our thing for the rest of the afternoon.

We always try to celebrate Wendy's birthday when they come to visit, even though it's a little early.  Then we celebrate again when we get home, even though it's a little late...

I bring these candles from Maine every year!

This is one of the best pictures of Bill in, like, forever!

We had filets, stuffed potatoes, broccoli and portobello mushrooms for dinner; lemon cake, strawberries and whipped cream for dessert and we played Racko.

Happy early Birthday Sweetheart!!!  We Love You!

Sunset Fun

Wendy & Dan invited us to join them at the beach to watch the sunset, so we did.  The clouds sent us some love on our way over.

The sunset itself was nothing special but the clouds behind us were beautiful!

On our way back to the truck, we could see lightning in the clouds and there were some strong thunderstorms inland.  They had walked over from their rental and chose to walk home.

Thanks for inviting us!!!

Eagles and Horses

We went to visit the eagles today.  The "babies" are 75 days old and will be fledging soon.  Before then, however, they are big enough for us to see them above the rim of the nest, especially with a good pair of binoculars.

Obviously easier to see if you can enlarge it.

One of the babies was nice enough to show off a little for us, wingersizing...exercising his wings and building up strength.

I've been watching this next in Ft. Myers for years now and there is nothing better than seeing it in person.  They are so much larger and more majestic than on the computer.

The nest tree shares it's space with several resident horses.  The white one came over to the fence to say hello and hung out for awhile, but I didn't get any pictures.  One of the others stopped nearby for a nice dirt bath.

Must feel good!

Yummy Treat

Today I ate the best macaroon I have ever eaten...blueberry, with a blueberry filling.

Bill had a Key Lime Pie one.  We bought them at the farmer's market from a new vendor called "Sugar & Sprinkles Dessert Shoppe".

We will definitely search her out next time!

While it was too late in the day for coffee on the harbor...it's never too late for ICE CREAM!
