We Are Easily Entertained

Wendy and Dan headed home yesterday, miss them already.  Of course, now that they're gone, the sun is out and the temperature is closer to normal.

We headed to Venice for our weekly walk.  I wanted to leave from Casperson Beach but there was absolutely zero parking, so we turned around and drove back to the Train Depot, a waste of 30 - 45 minutes.  We walked along the water and watched the drawbridge go up and down.

I have no idea why we find it so entertaining.  Look how nice this walkway along the water is, compared to what we have in Maine.

We ate pizza inside because all the outside tables were full.  We never liked Starbucks, but the "kids" got us hooked on their iced coffees, so we stopped to get one for the ride home and find out how much they cost.  The answer...$3.00.

Sat on the porch, in the shade, when we got home.  Neither of us was really hungry, so we had peanut butter sandwiches for dinner.

Not Nice Pool Weather...Again!

Wendy and Dan rented a house with a pool, specifically to hang out around the pool.  The weather has been 15* - 20* cooler than normal, not pool weather.

Bill and I walked the Linear Path loop, had coffee on the harbor at Bayshore Park and ate lunch at home.

After waiting in line for nearly 20 minutes, we picked up beverages at Starbucks and headed to sit around the pool with Wendy and Dan.  We set up the scope to watch the nesting herons in a nearby tree.

The Celtic Ray was our chosen spot for dinner.  We sat on the upper deck, which was really nice and the clouds finally started to clear.

Cool and Cloudy Day...Boo

We met Wendy and Dan at Mercer's around 11:00 and enjoyed coffees at an outside table.  We parked at Live Oak Park and walked the loop over the bridge and back.  It was cool and windy...

From there we went our separate ways.  We got lunch at Arby's and after asking Siri to find us a nearby park, we ate at Lake Betty Park.  It's a very nice park in a residential neighborhood.  We saw a very cute little girl catch her first fish.  She was sooo excited!

We went home, sat on the deck and read before meeting the "kids" at Fisherman's Village to watch the sunset.  The beach was closed for construction, WTH, so we sat on the wall on the other side of The Brewhouse.  Not nearly as comfortable as sitting in the chairs in the sand...

The sunset was okay, too many clouds to be spectacular.

7:37 pm

We came home and had popcorn for dinner while we watched tv.

An Early Birthday Celebration

Not a very nice Florida day...cloudy and cool.

We got off to a lazy start, didn't leave the house till 11:30.  Wendy and Dan were on their own for the day.  We walked from the church to Laishley Park and back so we could look at the cars being auctioned.  We enjoyed coffee on the harbor before picking up filets and potatoes at Beef Country for Wendy's birthday dinner.  We also got a gluten free cake and ice cream at Publix.

We ate lunch at home and drove to W & D's place around 3:00. We sat around the pool visiting and ate dinner at 6:30.  It got cool, so we moved inside for dessert.

Happy, Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl!
I actually brought these candles from home in anticipation of this celebration.

Wendy opened her gift (more to come when we get home) and we left around 8:30.

Easy Riders

We picked Wendy and Dan up at 11:00 and headed to Venice.  We ate lunch at a picnic table, in the shade, near the Train Depot.

We walked a short distance to Big Bam Ebikes, where we had reserved electric bikes...2 hours for $29.  Seems like a deal.

After a brief lesson on how to actually operate the bikes, we were off!
Seems easy enough ;o)

Buckling up

Here we go...

We rode along the Waterway Park to the end, about 4 miles.  We turned around, rode to the Train Depot, then another half hour along the Legacy Trail.  Saw this slow moving fellow sitting along the side of the trail.
I can assure you that he moves really, really fast when we wants to.

We rode back and returned our bikes after a fun couple of hours.  I was glad we didn't rent them for four hours because my butt was already hurting and I don't think I was the only one.

From there to Ciao Gelato for our traditional gelato.  It is soooo sweet and creamy.
It's 83*, eat fast.

We got Starbucks iced coffees for the ride home and were back at W & D's around 4:00.  Since this visit to Starbucks, we have become addicted to their iced coffees.

We visited for a short while, wet my feet in the pool (heavenly) and headed home.

It was hot, so we sat on the front porch, in the shade and read for about 20 minutes.  The new purple case for my phone came today and it's perfect.
We had a fun day, as we always do with the "kids".  Headed home in only four weeks ;o(

Happy St. Patrick's Day

It's St. Patrick's Day, we're in FL and it means Wendy & Dan are here!  They arrived late yesterday and are staying in a rental house in Pt. Charlotte, with a pool.  We picked up some groceries for them and dropped them off so they would have some supplies when they arrived.

Wendy called to let us know they would arrive at our place by noon.  I took some time to wrap her birthday present.  We celebrate early when they visit.  Sat on the deck and read for awhile, they arrived around 12:30.  We visited before taking our traditional St. Patrick's Day photos.  Since we didn't have Titan, I didn't bring the bag with all the dress up things in it and the Dollar Store didn't have anything.  Boring pictures this year.

Boring, maybe, but there were plenty of them because instead of using the button for a 10 second timer, I was using the button for a 10 picture burst, which someone thought was pretty funny ;o)

We always take a funny one, this year we took 10 funny ones...

However, I won't bore you with all ten.

For some strange reason, we took another good one, or as it turned out, 10 good ones.  Be sure to keep an eye on Dan's face.

After the picture fiasco, we all headed to the Celtic Ray for their SPD celebration.  Bill and Dan went to get our food (only took 15 minutes) and Wendy and I scored a table, so eating was easy but it was HOT!  84* and plenty of sun. We stayed till 3:45, while we visited.

They headed back to their rental, we returned home and sat on the porch in the shade.

Our boy has been gone 5 months already.

He was such a good sport, we miss him terribly! ;o(

Southwest FL Eagles...Harriet and M15

I have been following this nest for several years and for the first time, we drove to Ft. Myers to see it in person.  It seems silly, but I was so excited.

Harriet is the matriarch of this nest and has been here ever since I first started watching it on the internet.  Ozzie was her mate at the time and was much loved.  It's a long story but he died a few years ago, possibly from an injury he sustained during a fight with M15 while defending his mate, Harriet.  It was devastating to everyone following the two of them.

Harriet's new mate was not named but is referred to as M15, a male eagle that arrived on the scene in 2015.

The adult can be easily seen in the above photo but I don't know which one it is.  Although you can see the two juveniles in both photos, they can be seen better in the below photo.

The juvenile on the left is doing the "heraldic" pose, which helps them cool off.

On another note...today is Greg's 45th birthday.  Happy, Happy Birthday honey.  I'm so proud to be your mom and I love you very, very much!

Loooooow Tide

While we sit and sip our coffee at Bayshore Park, this is a usual low tide...

However, we have never seen the tide this low, it's amazing!  We attribute it to the fact that it's low tide and there's a very strong wind pushing it out even further.

Tiki Bar and Adult Beverages

For the first time this season, we walked over the Peace River Bridge, then stopped at the Tiki Bar for a beverage.

What a perfect day!
