We left home around 10:30, stopped at Mercer's for coffees and cookies and headed north to St. Augustine. We traveled along Rt. 4, moving from the West Coast to I95 on the East Coast. Saw some new country, pretty flat with lots of cows. Ate lunch in Palm Coast around 2:15.
We arrived in SA about 3:00 but couldn't check into our AirBnB until 4:00, so we drove over the Bridge of Lions to St. Augustine Beach. We parked along 1st Street and walked down the street, to the beach path and a spectacular beach! This beach goes for miles in both directions.

The moon is out there, you just can't see it unless you look really close!!!
We take the worst selfies ;o( |
We headed back to our apartment, picked up iced coffees at McDonalds and arrived around 4:20 to a cute, clean place to rest our feet for the next couple of days.
It's difficult to see but our apartment is attached to the left side of the center building (behind a bush). There was parking in the back ;o)
After unpacking, we took a ten minute walk to the historic St. George Street. Lots of places to shop and eat, along with several historic sites which we'll check out tomorrow. Even the sidewalks are cool.
Our apartment is located in a section of St. Augustine that was developed by Henry Flagler under the name "Model Land Company", "created in 1896 to manage his rapidly expanding real estate holdings in the state of Florida". It contains a number of historic homes and at least two churches, one being the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church, which is spectacular.
It was built in the Venetian Renaissance Style in memory of Flagler's daughter, Jennie Flagler Benedict, who died tragically in 1889. Henry Flagler's remains lie beside those of his first wife, Mary, and his daughter in the mausoleum.
This was one of the inlaid benches in the garden.
We got back as the sun set. We like to rent places with a kitchen, so we don't have to eat out unless we choose to do so. Fixing dinner here was a little tricky because, although there were pots and pans, they were small, so I had to use all of them in order to cook sausages and broccoli.
Watched some tv and headed to bed.
Thanks for stopping by...
;o)
