Holy Tomato Batman

After all the garden drama earlier, we didn't get a lot of regular tomatoes but the few we got were impressive!

How do two people eat a one pound tomato?

We have gotten a ton of cherry tomatoes.  We eat a dozen and pick 30 more...they are wonderful.

Blueberries Galore

Finally, the blueberries are beginning to ripen and the bushes are loaded ;o)

July 11...this was just the beginning.

July 14...more than a pound of blueberries today.

July 19...tons more to ripen.

August 3...we are still picking and there are several containers full of berries in the freezer.  Today I baked six large blueberry muffins and a loaf of blueberry bread.  Sadly, I forgot to take a photo. 

It was a great year!  Hope we get as good a crop next year.

A Few of the Garden Flowers

Blue Delphiniums

Our First Tomato

Well, well, well...what do we have here?  The season's first cherry tomato.

Garden, Plan C

We're getting there...

The raised bed just wasn't working, not enough sun.  When the tomato plants reached about six feet tall and were stretching, stretching, stretching toward the sun, growing sideways rather than up, we decided it was time to take drastic steps and move the entire garden to a sunnier spot.  It took most of the day and, of course, it was hot and humid, but we succeeded. 

Bill used "The Biff" to dig a big, long hole in the yard and we attempted to move three of the tomatoes at once, using the bucket on the tractor.  What a joke!  As soon as he picked them up, the cages fell every which way, the dirt fell off the roots and we were lucky to get them moved to the hole without further mishap.

After that, we decided to just dig each one up separately and move them into the hole.  

Then we moved the pepper plants and watered everything in really well.

It was a dirty job!  Fingers crossed.

Garden, Plan B

Well, although the veggie plants are growing like weeds, they aren't producing any fruit.  It's just too shady ;o(  So, we had to come up with another plan.  We moved two of the tomato plants and one of the pepper plants into buckets and set them on the deck.  

One of the tomato plants was very shocked and not very happy.  Time will tell if it recovers.

We also moved a pepper plant to the flower garden in front of the deck.

Taking Proper Pandemic Precautions at the Beach

Beautiful day today so we headed to Two Lights State Park and hoped the bathroom facilities were available, which they were!  That is always a concern for us more mature adults ;o)

Never fear, we made sure to abide by proper social distancing protocols and I wore my mask!
